All,

First a happy and prosperous New Year to all of you. This year we are planning to complete the revision of IEEE Std 1076.1.1 and start in earnest the next revision of IEEE Std 1076.1.

I would like to thank you for your confidence by confirming the WG officers for another term and at the same time congratulate John Willis, Alain Vachoux and David Smith for their re-election. I would also like to thank John Shields for acting as Returning Officer for this election. As John mentioned, the chair and vice-chair positions must be approved by the DASC, which will meet later this month at EDSF in Japan.

I terms of immediate activities, I am about to send out the invitation for next week's Working Group meeting, which will be a web meeting. I am also in the process of starting a survey among the Working Group and other interested parties to get feedback from the user community and to get additional people involved in the work of the Working Group. Expect this to start within a day or two.

I am looking forward to working with you on the revision of both the 1076.1.1 and 1076.1 standards.

Ernst Christen
Chair, IEEE P1076.1 Working Group
