Dear P1076.1 Working Group member,

Here is important information about the next two steps in the P1076.1
revision process, namely first a WG vote and then an IEEE ballot
process. Please read on carefully and take care of fulfilling the
requested actions to be properly involved.

A new 1076.1-2006 Language Reference Manual (LRM) draft is being
completed. It will align to the VHDL 1076-2002 standard and integrate a
number of Issue Requests (IRs). IRs can be found in the
http://www.eda-twiki.org/vhdl-ams/ site under the "1076.1-2006 Revision" link
or directly at http://www.eda-twiki.org/vhdl-ams/wwwpages_new/revision06.html.
Some discussion on IR1.99.05 already happened on the mailing list and
you are encouraged to review the IRs and make comments.

A formal working group review and vote will start soon (detailed
information on the review process will be communicated in a next email,
but it is now expected that the WG vote will start by end of April). The
voted material will include the IRs and the LRM draft.

Anybody in the mailing list may give comments on the voted material, but
only votes from qualified WG members will count. The proposed revision
to the 1076.1 standard must be approved by a majority of the WG voting
membership.
To determine if you are qualified for the WG vote, see the information
on the voting membership in the "How to participate" link from the WG
web site or directly from
http://www.eda-twiki.org/vhdl-ams/wwwpages_new/how_to_participate.html. See
also the WG roster at
http://www.eda-twiki.org/vhdl-ams/wwwpages_new/1076.1_roster_published.html.
It is required that you are a DASC member for your vote to be counted.
Please update your DASC membership ASAP.

Once the 1076.1-2006 LRM draft has been approved by the WG, it will be
submitted to IEEE for approval. This process follows different rules
than the WG review process. See again the "1076.1-2006 Revision" link in
the WG web site to get more information on getting involved in the IEEE
ballot process. Please apply the instructions there at your earliest
convenience.

I thank you for your active support of the 1076.1 standard. I remain
available for any question or comment about the next two steps discussed
above.

Best regards,
Alain Vachoux
P1076.1 chair
