    Peter Ashenden IEEE DASC Chair
    Ernst Christen IEEE 1076.1 Vice-chair
    Tom Kazmierski IEEE 1076.1 Chair
    Alain Vachoux IEEE 1076.1 Secretary

Agenda:
    1076.1.1 ballot
    1076.1 reaffirmation
    Next meeting

Tom opened the meeting at 11am.

1076.1.1 ballot
---------------
Tom presented the status of the 1076.1.1 WG on behalf of Peter Wilson (IEEE
1076.1.1 Vice-chair).

Standard packages are ready for IEEE ballot. They have been under an IEEE
editorial review until 21 Sept. They will be then posted on the web site
(http:// or through the 1076.1 web site) and subject to a working group review
until 30 Oct. Electronic ballot is expected between November 03 and January 04.

Ernst recalled that it could be better to have the ballot outside the Christmas
holiday period.

The balloting list consistuency is being defined. Potential balloters have been
contacted and invited to participate. It is also possible to contact Alan
Mantooth (at mantooth@engr.uark.edu) to ask to be included in the list.

1076.1 reafirmation
-------------------
1076.1 is due for reballot in 2004. The revision PAR will be submitted by the
end of the year.

Ernst presented the necessary updates to 1076.1-1999:
- Synchronization with IEEE Std. 1076-2002
- LRM errata
    - Definitional errors (including examples)
    - Typographical errors
    - Layout issues.
A first errata document is available at http://www.eda-twiki.org/vhdl-ams ("LRM"
link). Additional errata have been raised since this document has been
published.

Ernst also mentioned postponed requirements from the 1076.1-1999 ballot that
should be consider for reaffirmation:
- Handling of mixed nets
- Support for "analog" and "digital" architecture for an entity.
A white paper on mixed netlists is available at http://www.eda-twiki.org/vhdl-ams
("White Papers" link). Ernst recalled the main mixed nets issues.

We shall monitor what is happening in the VHDL 200X effort and especially in
the Fast-track team. However this won't be considered for the 1076.1-2004
reaffirmation.

Tom presented some feedback he got from users about 1076.1-1999:
- SPICE netlist interface
- Mixed nets
- Frequency domain support.
We agreed that each first and third issues requires a documented presentation
of the motivation and the requirements, and possibly also including some
recommendation to fix the issue. Then the WG will be able to develop a
resolution.

The state of the 1076.1 LRM source document (FrameMaker format) should be
checked to be sure that the conditional text is properly handled. The same base
document is used to produce both the 1076 LRM and the 1076.1 LRM.
There is an open issue about who will be the technical writer for the
1076.1-2004 LRM.

Next meeting
------------
No date defined yet. Probably during the DATE conference in Paris (Feb. 16-20,
2004).

Tom closed the meeting at 12:30am.
