Dear 1076.1 member,

You are invited to participate in a newly organized effort, called
VHDL-200x, to enhance and revise the IEEE 1076 VHDL language to better meet
the needs of designers today and the next several years. The organizing
group seeks EDA vendors, semiconductor suppliers, electronic systems
designers and academia to
participate.

Informational meetings and technical meetings have been held at DVCon in
San Jose, California and the DATE conference in Munich, Germany. In keeping
with IEEE practice and mandate to notify a broad set of people to
participate in updates and enhancements of IEEE standards, the IEEE VASG
committeee sends this email message to you.

Two documents are currently available on the ECSI web site at
http://www.ecsi.org/vhdl200x/. One includes the slides that have been
presented at the last two meetings and the other is the list of language
items with priorities.

Please review them and give any feedback you feel necessary. You can send
your questions or comments to the IEEE VASG responsible (Stephen Bailey,
<Stephen.Bailey@synopsys.com>). You can also subscribe to the VHDL-200x
mailing list by sending an email to <Majordomo@eda.org> with the following
command in the body of your email message:
         subscribe vhdl-200x <your email address>

There will be further discussion in the 1076.1 WG about possible new
requests to the VHDL-200x effort and also about influences of the proposed
changes to VHDL on the 1076.1 language definition.

Best regards,
Alain Vachoux
